I'll have a plate of eye-boinks with a side of cheez

Damn, I had forgotten how much I despised FRC. That's Faux-Rocker Constantine for those of you who have tried (like me) to repress all memory of His Velveetaness. My ears actually started to bleed when he was singing.

In other (better) news, Stefano is in the bottom 3, and my level 7 hobbit burglar won a bunch of crap in the LOTRO Welcome Wagon Lotto. Have I mentioned that all of my toons have the fishslap emote now?

Fastforward to about the 0:40 mark.

Casey and Lauren are safe. Duh.

Next to get their results are Paul, Pia and Scotty. I can't see any of these three being in the bottom 3, but if I had to pick one, I'd pick Pia. Scotty has too big a fan bloc and Paul got to sing last. That leaves her as the one who will be taking a trip to the stools . . . along with her hooker boots and the excessive boobage she's sporting tonight. If Mrs. High Lord were to trade me in for a younger model, I would sooooooooooo motorboat her.

And yes, Pia gets sent to the bottom 3. That leaves Haley, Jacob and James as the three possibles for the third stool in the bottom 3. I'm betting it's Jacob.

Haley, as much as I desire her to be eliminated, has been coming on strong lately. James got lots of face time and Jacob was in the dreaded lead-off spot last night, which is never good.

And I'm right again.

Of the three in the bottom 3, I think Stefano is the most likely candidate to get whacked. He's consistently been one of the weaker links this season. He's not awful, but nor is he memorable (ballads will do that). He's patently unoffensive, but nor does he make people want to pick up the phone or send a gazillion texts for him. Plus, he hasn't gotten as much face time as some of the others.

Pia stepped it up a little, but was falling into the same AFE trap. Jacob simply had the misfortune of leading off the show this week. I don't think he's going to win, but he was better than just about everyone else last night and that still gets him into the bottom 3. He also need some new (read: less gay) dance moves.

While we wait for the final results, let me ask this: WTF is Iggy Pop doing on Idol? Does he need the money that badly? I liked him when he was on DS9, but Idol?

My head is still spinning. Now if we can just eliminate Stefano . . .

If Pia and the twins get kicked off tonight, I'm going to be hacked off beyond belief. Jacob is the first to get the news and Seacrest leads him on before telling him that he's safe. Without a lot of fake drama, Seacrest tells us that Pia is leaving.

Randy reacts negatively; I can't tell which he's going to miss more: her singing or the catsuit.

I think he would like to use the save now, but they already burned it on Casey. Dammit, this means that we have to suffer through another week of Stefano. I guess I picked the wrong week to quit drinking . . .

She reminds Mrs. High Lord of Jackie on That 70's Show. I think she spent too much time singing ballads and didn't grab a fanbase early enough. It also highlights the power of the tweenie girl vote; 5 of the last six singers to be eliminated were girls (the sixth being Casey, who was saved). I read that both Namia and Thia think that the girl voters are voting in droves for the boys on a subconscious vendetta.

To back up that point, the last four winners have been guys and seven of the last 8 finalists have been guys, with Crystal being the only girl to make it to the top 2 since Jordin won in season 6.

I didn't think Pia was going to win, but she deserved to outlast Stefano, Haley, James and probably Paul. I guess this is what happens when the voting is left up to "America".

Are there any indications about next week's theme?

High Lord. Shire Brewmaster. Out.

I don't get what the judges were so upset about. According to them, every performance for weeks has been absolutely spectacular. If they really thought that Pia was so much better then some of the people who are still there, why didn't they point this out at some point? Really, the time to tell Stefano that he sucks was last night, not after the voting.

Word.

The judges have been a little too lovey-dovey with all of the singers. There is speculation that neither J-Lo nor Steven wants to be the mean one because when they leave Idol, they're going to have to go back to their day jobs and that means not alienating wide swaths of people.

I do think that the field gets deeper every year, but there is clearly a top tier and a bottom tier, and it's the judges's jobs to make sure "America" knows who belongs where.

Well, if you believe in votes, you shouldn't be surprised that all the girls are getting voted off. Unless they want to limit the number of times tweens and horny housewives can vote, it will continue to happen.

If you believe that this show is just a well-scripted, musical soap opera, you shouldn't be surprised by the SHOCKING ELIMINATION. Everyone is talking about it, people will believe Seacrest's stern warnings to vote more, the vote numbers go up and so do the ratings.

I agree George. The judges are so loving every singer, the general public has no clue who might be better than another.

While I'm not one of those who believes the votes absolutely do not count, I can see how easy it is for conspiracy theorists to build a reasonably believable case in a short amount of time.

However, if I were scripting a "reality" show, the first five people I kicked off wouldn't all be girls, and I definitely would not have kicked off the one who is smokin' hawt.

this show needs a few changes, perhaps they need to learn from other shows a little. Not sure if it needs to be like DWTS where the judges do vote, but limited votes per contestant from a given phone is needed badly.

also, the reason good singers go out early, is the idiocy of voting for "your fave" when there are 8-10 to choose from. Make it, vote for the person least deserving to stay, or simply, the person you most want to be gone! That way I only need to focus on ousting 1 person a week, versus trying to save 4 a week at this stage. And 10 votes per contestant per phone.

That would produce much better results :) At least until the top 3 or 4, then voting for Faves would make more sense.

for starters, the limited votes per phone per contestant would help a lot.

Personally, I didn't get to post yesterday, but I was going to say I'm leaning towards a Scotty/James finish, recreating a country vs Rock finale on par with Season 4. The more I see Scotty, the more I think he's the best future talent since Carrie, and how odd that it's another country singer. But his stage presence, and his expressions, really do make him entertaining.

And James is a very good singer. His odd mannerisms may bother some, as may the dumbo ears, but in the end, he's highly entertaining, and can go from the power rocker to softer ballad very well.

I was also going to suggest my bottom 3 as from: Stefano, Paul (like him, didn't like him Wed night), Jacob, and Haley. Seeing Pia in the bottom was a shock, and for Jacob to be the first safe had me nervous. Then for pia to go, I was shocked. I had her pegged to go to the Top 4 at least. Until last night, I was thinking Scotty, James, Pia, Casey as the likeliest top 4, though Haley and Stefano are doing the Chris Allen thing, hanging on, being unoffensive, and improving week to week. So either of them are my dark horse for top 4. Lauren I think is gone by 6th, as I expect more of the country voters to go Scotty, though with only 2 girls left, those 2 could easily last until the top 5 now.

I'll go on a limb, Jacob, Stefano, Paul, bottom 3 next week.

And I can only imagine the Judges were sick last night about not having the save left. Not that I don't think Casey was a very good choice, last night was a disaster. there' a million guys in a million bars ordering a million beers no longer having those dreams of Pia on their TVs now :( Seems she should have stuck to the power ballads. she strays one week, and boom, gone :(
